Gender Reveal Party

Well we had a BLAST at our Gender Reveal Party!!

We invited a few close friends and family to gather together to play a couple games, enjoy some food and find out what the heck we're having :-)

Ryan and I decided we couldn't wait to find out so we found out at our anatomy scan. It was definitely exciting to say the least! It killed our family though because they all wanted to know and constantly tried to get us to slip up but we didn't.

So prior to the party, my mother was in the hospital but luckily my mother-in-law and brother-in-law were able and willing to help me get ready for the party. We decorated everything with pink and blue (tablecloths, streamers, balloons, gumballs, food choices, drinks, etc.).

We sent out a Facebook invitation to everyone and texted those we knew wouldn't look at Facebook events. We told everyone to wear pink/red or blue to show their vote. For those that forgot, I made super cute ties and tutus for everyone to pin on their shirts (you can probably see them in the pictures below). My mom decided she wasn't going to follow the rules or pick a side so she wore both colors. We stuck her with the girls though because there were a few less and made the teams uneven for games.

The games we played were a bubblegum rattle game (two liters with equal amounts of gumballs inside, taped together. Players must shake the bottle until all gumballs are in the bottom bottle and pass to the next player on their team.) and we did an Old Wives Tale Quiz. Everyone had fun trying to complete the games and it was certainly fun watching everyone!

I have more pictures on my camera that I will upload, including everyone's reaction to the gender.

Once the games were over, we had everyone go inside for the big reveal. We got a giant black balloon (I believe it was 24 inches or so) and had them fill it with the appropriate color confetti. As per usual, I am unlucky, so the balloon popped on the ceiling on my way upstairs to the loft. Ryan's mom and brother were there but luckily were headed outside when it popped so they didn't see anything come out of the balloon. It was a lot of cleaning up to do though! Ryan got another balloon the next morning on his way home from the gym and they graciously discounted the price due to my wonderful mistake!

And the reveal was embarrassing lol we decided it would be a good idea to release the balloon onto the ceiling since it popped the balloon the first time... No such luck. Instead, the balloon nicely floated to the other side of the room (our ceiling is about 20-22 feet tall) so we had to be creative. We attempted throwing a clay carving tool at the balloon like a dart- it just bounced off and hit Ryan's uncle in the arm. Eventually we taped a pocket knife onto the top of our light bulb changing pole... It took a couple stabs but we finally got the sucker to pop!! BUT when it did, everyone screamed and cried for joy because we're having a.......

Honestly, we're just glad he is healthy and growing at the rate he should be growing but we're excited that it is a boy as well!
